Private Detector is an AI-powered safety feature designed to help protect you from receiving unsolicited or inappropriate images while using Bumble. It automatically flags and blurs photos that may contain explicit content, giving you more control over what you choose to see in your chats.
How Private Detector works
When someone sends a photo in a chat, Private Detector uses artificial intelligence to scan the image for signs of nudity or other explicit content. If the image appears inappropriate:
- The image is blurred automatically before you see it
- You’ll receive an alert letting you know why the image was blurred
- You can then choose to view the image, delete it, or block and report the sender if needed
This puts the decision and control entirely in your hands.
Why Bumble uses Private Detector
Receiving unsolicited explicit content (often called cyberflashing) can be uncomfortable and unwanted. Private Detector provides an added layer of safety by reducing the chance of unexpectedly seeing explicit images, helping you feel safer and more in control of your conversations.
