If you use your phone number to sign in to Bumble, it’s a good idea to add another way to log in, like a Passkey, Facebook, or Apple ID. This helps protect your account and makes it easier to get back in if:
- Your phone is lost, stolen, or broken
- Your number changes
- You can’t receive text messages for any reason
Why updating your number matters
Phone companies often reassign old phone numbers. If someone else gets your old number and it's still linked to your Bumble account, they could access your information. To keep your account secure, update your number in the app as soon as it changes. You’ll need at least one other login method before you can remove your old number and add your new one.
Note: You can’t change your login method on the Bumble website—only in the app.
How to add a secondary login and update your number
To add a secondary login:
- Open the Profile tab
- Tap the gear icon to open 'Settings'
- Scroll down and tap 'Security & privacy'
- Tap 'Ways you can log in'
- Under 'Other ways to log in', choose from: Facebook, Apple, or Passkey
If you’ve already added a second login method and your phone number changes, just use your Facebook, Apple ID, or a Passkey to log in. Once you’re in the app:
- Open the Profile tab
- Tap the gear icon to open 'Settings'
- Scroll down and tap 'Security & privacy'
- Tap 'Ways you can log in'
- Tap 'Change number' to update your phone number
If your number has changed and you didn’t set up another login method, you won’t be able to access your account. Unfortunately, Bumble can’t recover it in this case.
Instead, you can ask us to delete the account to protect your data:
- Submit a request
- Fill out the form and say that you’d like your account deleted
We’ll ask you to verify your identity to make sure you’re the rightful account owner.
