Your phone’s GPS location automatically determines your location on Bumble. You’ll also see other members based on their real-time location.
You can update your profile to show where you live and where you’re from, but your general location can’t be customized.
To update these in the app:
- Open your profile page
- Tap ‘Edit profile’
- Scroll down to ‘About you’ and tap ‘Location’ or ‘Hometown’
- Add or update the city you live in or are closest to
On the web:
- Click your profile picture in the top left corner
- Select ‘Edit profile’
- Scroll down to ‘My basics’
- Under ‘My places,’ add or update your current city and hometown
You can expand your search area at any time by adjusting your distance filter (available in specific countries). Check out our article on using filters to set your preferences. Or if you’re on the go and using Bumble while traveling, see our dedicated travel mode article.
Availability of Bumble
Unfortunately, Bumble services are not available in all countries. When you re-enter a country where our services are provided, you will be able to use Bumble as usual.
Having trouble updating your location?
Here are a few things to check if your profile is showing the wrong location:
Make sure location access is enabled for the Bumble app in your device settings
If you’re using a VPN, turn it off—VPNs can interfere with accurate location detection
If you’re on Wi-Fi, try switching to mobile data, as some networks may route through a different location
Check that you’re using the latest version of the Bumble app and update it if needed
If the issue persists, try restarting your phone
