Your personal details may change over time or need updating to reflect your true self. Here's how you can update your name, age, or gender on Bumble:
Updating your name and age
If you need to change your name
You can’t update your name directly in the app just yet, but our Support Team are happy to help with this.
To make things easier, please contact us while logged in to your account to help us locate your profile faster, and let us know the name you’d like to use. If you’re not able to contact us while logged in, please include either:
- The date you registered your account, or
- A clear photo of a government-issued ID (like a passport or driver’s license) that shows your name
If you need to change your date of birth
The easiest way to update your date of birth is to complete ID Verification (IDV) directly in the app. Once you’re verified, your date of birth will match your ID and can’t be changed, making sure everyone presents themselves authentically.
Please note that currently, it is not possible to hide or remove your age on your Bumble profile.
If ID Verification is not available in your country:
Contact us and let us know you'd like to change your date of birth. If you’ve requested a date of birth change before, you'll also need to include a clear photo of a government-issued ID showing your name and date of birth so that we can verify this manually.
If you’re in Japan:
ID verification is required when you create your account, so your date of birth is set to match your ID and can’t be changed, even by our Support team. This is in place to keep our members safe and prevent misuse on the platform.
Can I delete my account and create a new one with the correct information?
We don’t recommend creating multiple accounts to update your date of birth, as this can cause issues for you and other Bumble members. When someone sees the same profile appear more than once, they’re less likely to swipe again and may assume there’s a technical problem instead.

Updating your gender
You can update your gender anytime, right in the app:
- Open your profile and select ‘Edit profile’
- Scroll down ‘about you’ and find ‘gender’
- Choose the option that feels right for you. If you’d like, you can also add more about your gender here too
- You can also choose whether to show your gender on your profile, or keep it private
- Once you’re done, select ‘Save and close’
