To ensure Bumble remains a safe space for everyone 18 and older, members registered and located in South Korea may be asked to complete Age Verification.
This verification helps confirm that you meet Bumble’s minimum age requirement (18+) while protecting your privacy and giving you control over the personal data you share.
Why we ask for age verification
Sometimes, members are asked to verify their age through an ID verification process. For example, when we need to confirm that a member is over 18 as part of a sanctioned compliance check.
In South Korea, Bumble offers a custom verification flow. Bumble requests that you self-redact information that is not required by Bumble for age verification purposes.
How it works
- If you’re asked to verify your age, follow the link in-app. You’ll be directed to our third-party verification provider's secure portal (Veriff) to complete the check.
- You’ll need to upload a valid government-issued photo ID — such as a passport, national ID card, or driver’s license. You must redact (cover) fields like your National ID number, Driver’s License number, Alien Registration number, or Passport number.
- Please keep the following fields visible:
- Your name
- Date of birth
Photo - Sex
- Document expiry date (we need this to confirm your ID is valid)
- Please keep the following fields visible:
- When you opt out of biometric processing, your verification is handled entirely by a team of specially trained human reviewers so that no face scanning is used and no biometrics are collected. These reviewers only see the non-redacted information you’ve provided.
- Once your document is reviewed and approved, you’ll receive confirmation that your age and identity have been verified, and your access to Bumble will remain active.
