Opening Moves allow you to start better conversations and take the pressure off making the first move for women and nonbinary members. If someone has an Opening Move set, you can reply to it, regardless of whose move it is, to start a conversation.
- You can choose a suggested Opening Move like, 'What’s your dream vacation destination?', write your own, or get creative with a photo as your Opening Move
- You can set up to three Opening Moves
To set an Opening Move:

- Scroll down to Opening Moves
- Choose from a selection of suggested Opening Moves or write your own
Any photos you upload need to be in line with our Community Guidelines to help keep a safe space for everyone.
To edit an Opening Move:
- Go to your Profile and tap Edit Profile
- Scroll down to Opening Moves
- Tap the Opening Move you'd like to change
- Tap Edit or Remove to make your changes
- If you tap Edit, you can choose from a selection of suggested Opening Moves or write your own
Remember: You can add up to 3 Opening Moves to show more of your personality.

If you're based in California
If you’re based in California, having an Opening Move is required and can’t be removed.
We’ll automatically set a random one for you, but you can update it at any time, either during profile setup or by following the steps above.
If you're based in Canada
