Notes (previously called Compliments) are friendly messages you can send to another member before you match. They’re designed to spark positive interactions and help increase the chances of building a genuine connection.
You can send a Note about:
- A profile photo
- A prompt answer
- A shared interest
- Or simply something you admire about them
How to send a Note
- Open a member’s profile
- Tap the heart in a speech bubble icon or ‘Send a Note’ (this may appear directly on their profile or when interacting with a specific photo or prompt)
- Choose what you’d like to complement
- You can respond directly to a prompt or photo, or write your own short message
- Review your message to make sure it reflects your genuine intention
- Send your Note!
Receiving a Note
If someone sends you a Note, you’ll be able to see it when their profile pops up in your People tab.
Notes don’t start a chat—a match is still required before messages can be exchanged. But a thoughtful Note often increases your chances of getting noticed and building a connection.
Tips for sending great Notes
- Be specific and try mentioning something unique from their profile
- Stay positive—an upbeat tone makes your message more memorable and shows you bring great energy, making you stand out
- Be respectful! Notes should make others feel good
- Keep it short, a sentence or two works best (there’s a 150-character limit)
